Legacy Foundation

The mission of the Legacy Foundation is to help raise money and awareness for organizations capable of making a positive impact in the lives of those in our community.

In 2001, the Legacy Foundation was founded by Rolf Benirschke and a group of close friends. This special group shared a vision to bring together colleagues and community leaders in an effort to make a difference in the community of San Diego. Through the strength of enduring relationships built on trust and respect, the Legacy Foundation has selected countless benefactors to be the recipient of its charitable donations in an effort to improve the lives of those in our community.

Because of Rolf’s life threatening illness, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America is an annual recipient of the foundation’s charitable contributions. The Legacy Foundation has committed to donating $100,000 each year to help CCFA with grants for research, studies and the CCFA “Camps Across America” which help children cope with growing up with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.

The Legacy Foundation also donates $50,000 annually to the Pro Kids Golf Academy in an effort to challenge underserved youth to excel in life by promoting character development, life skills, and values through education and the game of golf.

In addition to these ongoing commitments, the Legacy Foundation chooses one or more organizations each year to support, with an emphasis on choosing organizations that benefit the lives of those in our San Diego community.

To date, the Legacy Foundation has raised over $6 million in support of the following organizations:
